[2020] Visiting the Grave of Nujabes 【令和２年】Nujabesのお墓へ参ってきました。

Nujabes is resting in “Tama Cemetery” in Fuchū City, Tokyo.

Nujabesは東京都府中市の『多磨霊園』に眠っています。

Tama Cemetery is one of the largest cemeteries (=graveyards outside the temple grounds) where great historical figures and famous people rest.

多磨霊園は、歴史上の偉人や有名な人達が眠る最も大きな霊園（寺院の境内以外の墓地）の一つです。

With an area of 128 hectares, it is the largest of the metropolitan cemeteries.

面積は128ヘクタールと都立霊園の中で最大の規模を誇ります。

This is Japan’s first park cemetery, which was created with reference to overseas forest cemeteries.

この霊園は海外の森林墓地を参考にして作られた日本最初の公園墓地です。

If you access there by train, “Tama Station” on the Seibu Tamagawa Line is the closest station (5 minutes on foot).

電車でアクセスする場合、西武多摩川線の『多磨駅』が最も近い駅となります（徒歩５分）。

Since I wanted to see the town, I decided to walk there from “Tama-reien Station” on the Keiō Line (20-30 minutes on foot).

私は、散歩がてら京王線の『多磨霊園駅』から歩いて向かうことにしました（徒歩２０～３０分）。

There is also a bus from the north exit of Tama-reien Station.

多磨霊園駅北口からバスも出ています。

You can take Keiō Bus (The Bus bound for JR Musashi-Koganei Station North Exit or Tamachō), get off at “Tama-reien Omote-mon”, and take a two-minute walk.

京王バス（JR武蔵小金井駅北口行きまたは多磨町行き）、『多磨霊園表門』下車徒歩2分。

On the way from Tama-reien Station, I bought flowers for the grave at a flower shop.

多磨霊園駅から歩いて向かう途中、花屋さんでお墓に供える花を購入しました。

You can get a map at the management office located on your right after entering this gate.

この門を入って右手に位置する霊園の管理事務所で地図を貰えます。

If you come here in spring or autumn, the trees will be more beautiful.

春や秋にここへ来たら、木々がもっと綺麗だと思います。

The destination is approaching.

目的地が近づいてきました。

It’s along the street here.

ここの通り沿いです。

I arrived at my destination.

目的地へ辿り着きました。

It seems that the real name of Nujabes is Jun Yamada, though, the epitaph says “Nujabes / Jun Seba”, and you can certainly confirm that Nujabes is resting here.

Nujabesの本名は山田淳ジュンさんだそうですが、墓誌に「Nujabes・瀬葉淳」と書いてあり、確かに、ここにNujabesが眠っていることを確認することが出来ます。

I’m sure Nujabes’ ancestors may be confused when a stranger comes to visit the grave without permission, but I really would like to say hello.

見ず知らずの人間に勝手に墓参りに来られて、Nujabesのご先祖様は困惑しているだろう知れなと思いますが、どうかご挨拶させて欲しい。

I couldn’t find a place to put incense sticks, so I lit the incense sticks that I brought, put my hands together while holding the incense sticks within my hands.

線香を立てるところが見当たらず、火を付けた線香を両手で挟んで合掌。

(After this, I extinguished the incense sticks and brought them home.)

（この後、線香は火を消して持ち帰りました。）

During this time, no one but me came to visit Nujabes.

この時間に、Nujabesに参りに来たのは私以外に居ないようでした。

It was a quiet place without the sound of cars.

車の音も無くて静かな場所でした。
